Waistbeads are the perfect addition for weight tracking, waist training + shaping, adornment, self-expression and aesthetic.
Waistbeads origins come from the tradition of many different African tribes, being symbols of womanhood, fertility, protection + spirituality but Waistbeads are for all women. Any body type, any race, any background.
These are traditional tie-on strands. If you are using these for the purpose of tracking + monitoring your weight, tie- on strands are perfect being that they are semi-permanent. Once they are tied, they usually last many months after- until you cut them or they break (which can indicate weight gain). They serve as a gentle reminder for me and remove my focus from solely numbers. It is a tool that helps me feel out my body.
Being that these are tie-on strands,- no measurements are necessary. All strands come in a standard 48 inch length. Place beads around your waist and choose where you want them to rest. Some prefer rib cage area vs lower waist/navel vs sitting on hips. It is all preference. Once you have your desired fit, slide excess beads down and secure a few tight knots and cut off excess string. Waistbeads do fade with time due to friction, showers + normal wear.
The lettering on the beads can be customized. If you’d like specific lettering or symbols, please include in the notes. I recommend no more than 4 letter beads because they tend to get heavy and uneven around the waist.
